Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr. Jayanti Bhattacharjee, has earned her medical graduation from the Medical College, Kolkata and therein she travelled overseas and acquired her Specialist training in the UK. Dr.Bhattacharjee earned her Post-graduation in Clinical Psychiatry from the University of Leeds, UK.
Dr. Jayanti Bhattacharjee has successfully completed over 25 years in the field of psychiatry and has earned experience in managing mental health problems in all ages with particular interest in psychosomatic medicine - interface between physical and mental health.
While in the UK, she has worked in various hospitals in various sub-specialities within the department of Psychiatry, namely — General Adult Psychiatry, Old Age Psychiatry, Neuropsychiatry, Child Psychiatry, Learning Disabilities Psychiatry, Addictions Psychiatry, Rehabilitation Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry, from 1997 to 2012. She has experience of working both as a Mentor and as a Consultant Psychiatrist in the UK.
Dr. Bhattacharjee has also completed and published a Cochrane systematic review, ’Aripiprazole versus Typical Antipsychotics for Schizophrenia’. She is presently working on four other Cochrane systematic reviews, the protocols of which have been published in the Cochrane Database.
She has a special interest in psychosomatic medicine and organic psychiatry, and the application of psychotherapeutic techniques in the assessment and treatment of individuals with mental disorder. She has developed original therapies for various psychosomatic and mental disorders with a view to developing holistic care plans to meet the biopsychosocial needs of individuals with mental disorder to enable their reintegration within their respective communities. She is interested in qualitative research methods, and in the development of new service models to challenge existing medical boundaries.
